Finally got around to making some release notes. This isn't complete, but it should cover most of the major stuff:
- link details name rewriting - cross-script toplists [NOTE: doesn't work in the currently available preview] - member home area for managing submitted links etc - up to infinite attachments per post/PM/link [NOTE: doesn't apply to links in currently available preview] - option for members to be notified of moderator actions on their submissions - WYSIWYG post editor - secondary usergroups - assign special category access - edit submission dates - member custom titles - auto-resizing of avatars - instant messaging system - subscription notification frequency options - member personal guestbooks - buddy and ignore lists - private messaging enchancements - moderator usernotes - modcp tools and enhancements - contact form - extensible help system - auto-calculated 'similar links' - total time online - quick registration option - ability to change login cookie names - ability to set default chmod value for directories - option to bypass unnecessary redirect pages - option to show 'deleted' markers - cross-post prevention - various comment content requirement options - additional registration usergroups - password encoding method options - member auto-promotion - set registration defaults - more search configuration options - control spiders: disallow from unimportant pages - throw 404s to undesirable IPs - option to require all submissions to be sponsored - option to autopromote all links owned by a sponsoring member - moderator log - administrator permissions - RSS templates - site leaders page - 'new links' page - stats on registation and submission rates - merge members - easier management of banned members - member ranks system - improved (less server-intensive) javascript export - option to distribute load when generating html pages - make category act as link
If things go as usual, no one will use the beta and so I'll rename the beta to 'final' in a couple weeks even though it's really a beta, just to make people report the bugs.
Could you please consider a Preview feature for link submittion.
Sometimes you can have a directory with various fields to be submitted by the users, like: description; telephone; fax; email; adress; etc.
It will be very usefull for the users to have the hability of preview all the data entered before submitting it. This is more usefull when the submitted data has to be approved by admin before being published, so time will pass between the data is posted and the user can edit their fields.
I'd really been meaning to add the link submission preview, but forgot. Added it to my to do list now. Since fields vary and due to multilingual issues, I'll make the text of the preview a language item.
Paul, I would love to try 3.20 but like Adam I have customized my tempolates extensively so to redo it result a full head of white hairs for me.
1) Since I am keeping my site as simple as possible, can I keep my current template and just upgrde to receive the other benifits of the new version?
2) I was wondering if you fixed the bug I found a while back. Where if you log in to your account under www.website.com and then you go back to your site under website.com without the www it shows that you are not logged in. But if you try www.website.com it will show that you are logged in. I know this happens with the Mozilla broswer but havent tried it with IE broswer.
Well, I had to adapt the 3.16 multilingual templates using those same comparison files a few days ago... only took me about three days, and that's including all the time spent adding language items.
1) As long as you don't convert attachments.
2) That's not a bug, it's simply how browsers work, therefore it will never be "fixed." If you want a cookie to work everywhere on a domain you have to make it a global cookie by setting a .domain.com cookie domain. But presumably I already told you that the first time you asked, whenever that was.

When we have the pending for approval feature enabled, for some directory applications would it be useful enable a step to be after admin checks the submitted listing but before publishing it:
Before letting the pending listing to be published, admin check it's and if this publication meets the publishing criteria :
Feature suggestion:
* Let admin send an email to submitter with custom and pre-stated instruction (example: how much and were to pay) for his data to be published.
We can build directories of specific topics and with the following scheme:
a) you do not want publications of unrelated topics, and
b) you do not want spending time refunding money to someone who has pay for a posting of an unrelated topic.
c) you want payment to be done before the submitted post is published.
So the way of working for this directory would be:
a) User submits a post b) Screen message of post submitted at page redirect c) Email pending for approval (not enabled for this scheme). If we send payment instructions here we can be dealing with refunding money in case we decide the posting does not meets the publishing criterion d) Admin sees the submitted listing pending for approval e) New step: If admin decides the submitted post meets the publishing criterion, admin sends instructions on how to pay for the publication. If admin decides that the submitted post does not meets the directory topics he uses the actual method for rejecting it, and the process ends. f) After checking that the user has done the payment, admin accepts the listing and it's published, and a validated email confirmation is sent using the actual feature.
Considering the above explanation,
I don't understand. The admin validates a listing, and then has re revalidate it a second time before it show?
Admin first send payment instructions (this is not a validation) and when the payment is done admin send the validation email confirming the submitted post is already published.
How does this differ the validation email, or the on-submission email?
This differ of a validation email because when we send a validation email the posting is published immediatelly at this case we can not request payment before publishing.
A submittion email is sent before admin can see the submitted post, so if we send payment instructions at this moment, and then we see that the submitted post does not correspond to the topics of the directory, we have to spend time dealing with money refunding for the payment already done.
Not sure where to post this, since this is a 3.20 thread, here seems a good place.
This is an excellent program, love the new features, a lot of what I had to do as custom work before has been done in this version for me, which is nice for upgrading. Until now, I have not come across any problems whatsoever. Great job guys!
I have come across one problem now though. When trying to delete, (or hard delete, either one), entries in the personal guestbook, it gives me a mysql error in database.php on line 72. Then it tells me the entry has been deleted, however it is still there. Anyone have any ideas?
How can I make the RSS feed show only sponsored links? Currently, it is showing all links, even links that are not in the directory. I would like to show only sponsored links, with the sponsorship url for that link so that clicks are still counted.
Thanks,
Becky

Just wondering if there is a demo of this version yet, or if someone who has installed it would be kind enough to point us to a preview.
Thanks,
