If you have very extensive customizations (such as a translated version) and wish to try upgrading the templates instead of overwriting them, I've attached a file comparison showing the changes made.
If you installed prior to the time of this post, to apply the fixes you need to overwrite PHP files and upload the templates/default/admin/templatepreview.tpl file.
I'm using extensive customizations in the templetes and have a lot of settings in the Admin Panel that I don't want to lose.
I've never upgraded so, I'm at a loss for what it's going to mean for my existing settings and template modifications. Is there an explaination in the manual on how to upgrade without losing settings (or even if that's possible).
Thanks!
BTW- the online Manual is giving this error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function: locktables() in /home/wmaster/public_html/scripts/wsngallery/manual/commonfuncs.php on line 151
Settings and data are never lost in any upgrades, but templates frequently are. The template changes from 2.1 to 2.2 are extensive enough that I can't recommend attempting to adapt the templates yourself, I can only suggest overwriting.
So, do I have to upgrade the templates if I want to upgrade the scripts (probably yes, I bet)? My whole system revolves around the albums.tpl and viewprofile.tpl that I've customized to fit my site.
Are you saying that it's better to start with the new 2.2 templates and work my modifications in or, that modifications are not recommended in the new templates at all?
***Also, is there a recommended way to upgrade (step-by-step or, do I just overwrite everything)? I'm using an integration script so, if I over write it, I won't be able to login to my admin panel.***
