today i gambled and lost... i thought why not upgrade as were getting close to 31-12-2008 so i hit the button... that was a mistake...
as i dont have big custom things it showed some lines i had to ad to it manualy to aquatic and the default template. surprised as i was it complete got stuck on the aquatic template. it refused to use the default template. For me it unusable in that way.
Even when i uploaded the template from a downloaded 5.x nothing changed.. the setting was default template but still showed aquatic.
i didnt knew what changes were made by the upgrade so to cover everything i uploaded the 5.x version and overwrite everything, but that didnt help either.
end of story was that the upgrade failed ,i had to go back to the 4.x latest as it obviously had a template problem and i couldnt sit and wait..
Well it wasnt all negative but in my case the upgrade failed... but i tried a different approach this time.
in another folder i installed the newest 5.x version. then i deleted the most important tables from the one i just installed and replaced that with the current running 4.x version. After that i run the upgrade... bit weird way of working but at the end all worked fine paul.

I'd need to see the URL, which you're not allowing me to do.
the setting was default template but still showed aquatic.
Your personal profile selection overrides the guest default.
Even when i uploaded the template from a downloaded 5.x nothing changed..
Where did you upload to? Did you delete the existing content first (necessary on non-suphp hosts)?
