I upgraded my script from 1.11 to 2.13 and it seems my category permissions do not want to show. The templates that are currently there are the unmodified default ones that come with 2.13. I tried reuploading twice and running the update script, but no show. I really don't want to have to wipe out my DB and start from scratch again.
I know it works on a fresh install, because I installed it fresh for another project and it worked fine. So I'm guessing that it is specifically a problem with upgrading.
Did you create several different user groups with different permissions and a category with different permissions than the usual prior to the upgrade and try it? Because I had several categories and usergroups already set up apart from the default. My gallery is quite large. I have over 700 memebers and 300+ images.
If you want to try it with 1.11 I can give you the copy of the script I have.( original php scripts) I keep a backup of all my scripts before I upgrade incase this happens.
I also had a quick question about the permissions of an image in a category that is restricted. I don't know if this is the case now, but in the old gallery if the image was in a restricted category it still showed up in the top list when uploaded. Although I worked around this. The one place I had trouble, which was something a user pointed out to me, was that it was also accessable if a non authorised member/guest went into an authorised member's profile and clicked on a comment made on a restricted image. It would bring up the comment page and the image from the restricted category. I'm trying to restrict these images to the authorised viewers only, so I was wondering what I was doing wrong that these images were still accessable, even though the category permissions were functioning correctly.
Hadn't tried with custom usergroups, will shortly. If you didn't test the new version with custom groups, perhaps it's not actually an upgrade issue but a custom usergroup issue.

Image toplists do now check the category viewing permissions.

Comment pages should currently respect category permissions as well. On this forum for example you should find that you can't view https://www.webmastersite.net/forums/thread/4208 because it's in a restricted area.
I just got my server back online after a big fiasco and I went to download this to fix my gallery problem, and it keeps telling me I don't have permission. Is there something I'm missing?
I did the complete upgrade as decribed in the readme and its still not showing category permissions. I replaced the category.php as directed twice to ensure that it happened properly.
It gives me what appears to be some kind of error message at the top. it starts off by saying
entering block Ok, so it's not filling
Then I think its listing all the variables in the page.
I'm still working with my custom usergroups and category permissions from before.
the category permissions are also still not showing up on the create category template.

Is there a way to go in and fix the problem?

I just downloaded and installed 1.01, created a category, then upgraded to 2.11. All the permissions show when I edit the category.
(Didn't try 1.11 since the file in the archive there is a windows-only .exe, but surely any upgrade issue that'd affect 1.11 would also affect 1.01.)

I have no idea what sort of error message you're describing. Have a screenshot?
