I've just installed wsn under http://www.itwdb.de. I activated the seo function with mod_rewrite and renamed htaccess.txt to .htaccess. On my local installation everything works fine but on my productive server everytime I'm trying to access http://www.itwdb.de/Buchempfehlungen I get the message:
Not Found The requested URL /itwdb/index.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
I think my problem is caused by the following facts: itwdb.de is a multidomain hosting package (linuxsource.de is the leading one). I've installed the wsn scripts into http://www.linuxsource.de/itwdb where http://www.itwdb.de points to. Leaving http://www.itwdb.de in the system configuration -> directory url will cause the problems. Altering it to http://www.linuxsource.de/itwdb will make seo work.
My idea is it to place www.itwdb.de on a explicit webpack or server.. but for my own interest are there other possibilities?

I don't really understand a word of that. What's a "webpack," what's a "multidomain hosting package" if that means something other than a reseller account with WHM, or cpanel add-on domains or the like? From your example it looks like you're saying you only have domain fowarding, not an actual domain there, since one domain forwards to a subdirectory of another?

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Any ideas what went wrong?

Check your rewrite base value.
