We are getting very odd links to sub-categories displayed that link to our front page. These are not in the database and were not submitted. I have attached screenshots of these links, can you look and advise as to what is causing this?
They aren't unvalidated categories? There was a bug with those showing before 3.3.3 (and a regeneration would be needed to eliminate them after upgrade).
Here are shots to show an example of what's displaying. I drilled down in the Real Estate category to the bottom sub-category under Residential>Rentals.
1. The main Real Estate category shows (4) 2. The category page displays 1 sponsored link, which is correct and totals for Residential (4) & Commercial (2) 3. Residential has three listings which is correct yet the total said 4 and the sub-category under this, Rentals shows (5) which if you already add the totals is more than 4 the main category is displaying. 4. Rentals displays 5 links with the sponsored link included in the total which is correct.
Unless the math I was taught was an exception to what everyone else learned, this doesn't add up.
Well the way to correct totals is to regenerate. I don't see any possible way to get totals incorrect via regeneration. Can you suggest a procedure to reproduce?

We've upgraded to 3.3 what do you mean by regeneration?

In your admin panel, scroll down to MAINTENANCE and click on Regeneration Counters.

Thanks Jill, that fixed the catagories issue but now the link count is wrong, I regenerated those as well but it had no effect, any ideas?

Are you sure it wasn't wrong before and right now?
