OK, I'm probably gonna be told I shouldn't have done this, but I did!!! I exported my database and imported to another site that wanted the exact same set up. Uploaded wsn links to new site with newly updated templates (all done offline), changed the system configuration and everything seemed to be working ok (eventually )
But then I made some minor adjustments to the wrapper template and did them online through the admin panel. Didn't work - template was correct but just didn't show on the user side. After quite a while I realised that it had UPDATED THE OTHER SITE!!
I then adjusted the number of cats to be shown - again it adjusted the other site.
It also gives me a warning that "The link type AFFIL is used in your template, but you only have premium, recip, club in your settings" That is not correct, I double checked and affil is definitely listed in the links. I even deleted it, saved and then redid it but it still doesn't work.
Obviously I have missed adjusting something and the admin panel is still pointing to the other site.
I have done a search and replace through the links directory and it didn't pick up the old site at all, so I assume that it must be something to do with the database???

You wouldn't believe how often I've done that (though messing up setttings more than templates).
You need the directory url setting to specify the proper url. You could change it through phpmyadmin, but it's easier to use config.php to override it as explained at the bottom of scripts.webmastersite.net/w...inks/wsnmanual/articles/78
What do you mean "which config.php"? There is only one on each site.
OK, just to clarify again... I copied wsnlinks over to a new site. On the new site I updated the config.php, system configuration and templates
But now things have got even stranger. At the moment although I can log in it won't recognise me as admin. The sites seem to be linked somehow - I went to the original site and now when I try to log in that takes me to the new site!!
OK, so if I have to start from scratch presumably I can use the same database, but will wsnlinks find at the data ok - added fields, links, categories, members? Do I have to do something so that it can locate all that info?
OK, found out that wsnlinks wouldn't read the database properly because with all the weird happenings the database had become corrupted or something. Anyway, luckily I had a copy of the .sql so started afresh and am happy to say the original site is now working.
Regarding the 2nd site, I have had to delete the whole thing including db and start afresh. I think that in exporting and then importing the db I missed off updating a line to the new site in the .sql which was the cause of all the probs!!

LOL! I'm so happy to hear that <G> Everything in admin panel updates other site, not just templates.

I did that - just double checked to ensure I had uploaded it correctly and the config.php definitely has the new site details in it.

Perhaps you tried to use an old version's db with a new version's files.
