Related Categories How can I split a Related Categories list?

Rather than having a long list, I need to split my related categories into three columns. Can you help with an easy "if" statement to accomplish this?

Wouldn't using <div style="float: left; width: 33%;"> do it?

That divides the Related area into 3 columns but leaves all related links in the left column. I need to divide the related links equally into the 3 columns, sorted alphabetically.

How can all links be in the left column if the div is around each link? What are you trying?
