I have noticed for a while that i have strange characters (â€â€Å&ldquo in some of my descriptions after changing the old script to WSN Links. Since upgrading to 4.1.4 I note that i have also got <br > tags included also now. Is there any easy way to get rid of these or do i need to manually go through and do it?
I remember seeing <br />s in descriptions but I thought that was fixed before 4.1.4. As for other characters, mut be an incompatible character set, common when people use Microsoft Word which inserts special characters everywhere.
Would the find and replace tool (Perform Mass Alterations: in advanced) not work to get rid of the <br > tags? I know it wouldn't with the other characters but at least it would be one job out of the way.
I just tried it but it said nothing affected - could that be due to the issues I just outlined in my other thread or is thios tool simply not for this type of work?
There are lots of transformations involved so it wouldn't be <br /> in the database. Probably it's & # 6 0 ; b r / & # 6 2 ; without the spaces. Check phpmyadmin.
You are sure you have line break parsing enabled for that field?

Is the only option to manually remove them?
