Hi there,

My first post here. grin

I bought the software a few weeks ago and think it is great.

However every so often when I had version 3.16 when I clicked on the 'confirm vote' button nothing happened. This usually resolved itself the next time I logged or had gone into the ACP. It didn't happen often.

However I upgraded to the new version a few days ago. And put some custom voting fields in ( I am still a bit unsure if I did everything correctly), but they seemed to work. 5 custom ratings areas, and all votes being counted.

I have everything at the moment set so that anyone can vote (it's not live and I'm still tinkering).

One thing I did notice though is that when I rated a site it came up with 'Thank you your vote has been recorded' straight away. There was no confirm page.

I logged in the next morning to do a bit more and when I tried to vote again, there was a Confirm page coming up "You are about to give "Testing" a rating of 3, where 1 is the lowest rating and 5 is the highest."

When I click 'Confirm' it doesn't do anything... no votes are being sent to the db either.

I re-uploaded all the templates this morning fresh, and with no customisations, but the same thing is happening.

Any ideas ? I'm sure it's something simple I've overlooked.

When you rate from within your site, it's not supposed to ask for confirmation. The confirmation is for when you're submitting your vote from a page on some other domain name.

For it to sometimes show the 'confirm' page may indicate there's a problem with detecting the referring URL.

Where is the 'confirmation page' option? I can't find it. Edit: Seems to be missing in 3.2. Adding it back now.

Really ? That might explain why it's happening periodically. But for the last 2 days I've been unable to vote due to this 'Confirm Vote' page coming up and not going anywhere when I hit the button.

I can't give you the url publically as the site the directory was installed on while not extremely 'adult', has some refererences to female sexuality being discussed.

The url on the confirm page looks like this :

http://www.**********.com/directory/vote.php?action=vote&id=5

and this is the text shown.

Links Directory > Test > Testing

You are about to give "Testing" a rating of 1, where 1 is the lowest rating and 5 is the highest.

Confirm Vote

I hit 'Confirm Vote' and nothing happens.

Have you check that your directory url and site url settings are correct? That's the only thing I can think of.

A query
UPDATE wsnlinks_settings SET value='no' WHERE name='confirmvote';
should disable it.

Thank you Paul,

That was exactly the problem, there was no www. when the 'confirm' page was coming up. When I changed it the votes were recorded perfectly.

Thank you very much for your help ! I generally find it's the simplest of things that make the biggest of problems lol

Ah, I see. As of 3.21 I'll make it smart enough to recognize that it's still the same domain when the www. is missing.
