My site is maintained using auto HTML generation. When a link is expired by the system, is there a way to have the page regenerated automatically so that the link no longer appears? I am trying to avoid daily manual regeneration of the entire site.
No, the automatic regeneration options aren't very useful, especially since somebody has to load a non-static page in order for the script to do anything.
When the system automatically deletes a link because it has expired, I would like the HTML version of the page to be updated as well if possible. (PHP version of page is not used)
mrkarron, I understand that HTML static generation can be used in combination with the server cron job to generate static pages on a daily or more frequently basis.
Paul, the HTML static file generation is a great feature that I believe can be powered a lot more in combination with server cron job. (As an example of the use of the server cron job, the popular banner management script 'phpadsnew' is based on a server cron job, and at their admin panel it generates pop up window if the cron job has not being executed within the last 24 hours; at our case also an email can be sent to admin). So we can present static pages of our directory that can be updated automatically, this way we'll have the fastest directory available.
So I would like to suggest/request an improvement on the usage of the static HTML file generation feature. As part of this suggestion we can have the feature of identifiying what pages have had a modification (on their category, link, comment or link-details), this in order to re-generate automatically only the corresponding static page, but not all the directory.
I hope to have explained my suggestion/request comprehensively, if not please tell me in order to explain myself better.

When will it delete the link when you're not getting visitors to dynamic pages?
Anyhow I've never dealt with crons, I'll look at them. Though WSN will always be a dynamic script, as most things are impossible with static pages (and if you've got the kind of traffic that requires static pages then you've got the kind of revenue to pay for a new server to not need them).
