This might be kind of simple, but are you using the right password?
Have you tried the forgot password and get it (or a new pass) emailed back to you?
Do you have 2 accounts with the same user/email address and possibly different passwords, so it could be checking the opposite account's password/login.
Is your account validated?
Can you login/logout ok on a different or friends computer?
Why not do a completely fresh install in a brand new directory (/test) and try it there without modifying anything. If you can login/logout ok then you have a problem with your templates/settings in your old one.

Have you deleted cookies of all the browsers you could be using ?
