Do you have the knowledge and skill to bring a customized WSN Links to a niche market? Co-brand and sell the script, splitting your sales revenue with WSN.

The basics:

  • 50% of revenue from your sales of the co-branded script goes to WSN. Your sale price must be at least equal to the current WSN Links license price at any given time (if you feel you can sell it for $200, though, feel free). These terms may be negotiable if there are unique circumstances.
  • It's your product. You develop your own website, select your own name for the script, do your own marketing, and handle direct support. A certain amount of experience is thus useful. I can, however, provide you with a copy of wsnlinks.com to work from if you wish (the php file and templates) along with paypal and 2co order processing scripts.
  • Your product should fill a niche need which WSN Links itself doesn't properly address. For example, a Spanish version with the admin panel translated marketed to Spanish speakers with Spanish support would qualify. A classified ads script based on WSN Links would also qualify. Some sorts of customizations won't require PHP knowledge (translations or other special template sets), while others may involve significant PHP work (a pay-per-click bidding version, for example). Naturally if you select a project that involves PHP you'd better know PHP, as developing your product will be your responsibility (though I might help with minor modifications).
  • Support for your product's customers is a tricky issue. When you don't know the answer to a question (or a bug is reported, etc) you may relay the question through the WSN support channels, and then bring the answer back to your customer. Since this is slow, arrangements can be made for IM-based support with the condition that it only be used for relayed requests. Other arrangements can be negotiated, though phone support will not be available. A copy of the manual can be provided to you.
  • It's strongly suggested that you stick with the later numbers in a series (3.3.9 for example, not 3.4.0 or 3.4.2) rather than updating your co-branded product immediately to a new series -- early versions in a series tend to require more support as they're buggier, and there's the hassle of syching to the customized script as well to encourage waiting.
  • Co-branding of the Basic Edition is a tricky matter which will require discussion for each individual case. In general terms, any co-branded Basic Edition will have to be at least as disabled as WSN Links', the linking text in it will have to be specifically approved and directed only at the website which sells the paid version, and I will not provide any relayed support to your basic edition clients.
  • Feel free to co-brand any of the other WSN scripts, this isn't limited to Links.

Pick a niche you know well and can serve best. Put your superior marketing skills to work.

Note that I may decline to accept a co-branding proposal for any number of reasons, including a subjective judgment that you're not capable of selling enough copies to make the time commitment worthwhile. Any indication you can give of your marketing abilities would be helpful.

Suggestions

The simplest sort of co-branding would be brining WSN Links to webmasters who don't speak any English. There's a German version already in the works (an exclusive deal, no more German versions will be accepted), but all other languages are open.

Another fairly easy option would be a classified ads script. There's already a template set for that complete with fields to add, which you can find in the modifications forum, though unfortunately it's not style-compatible so it'd need some work.

Needless to say there are better ideas out there I haven't thought about, and those are probably the ones with the most potential.

The absolute ideal situation of course would be a PHP developer who can customize the source code to add special features or the like as needed. That would open up a much wider array of possibilities and lessen the support issue. (If no relayed support will be required and you're using WSN as a base for building a new expanded script, a percentage cut significantly lower than 50% can be negotiated according to individual circumstances.)
