How do I get category summary text on category index pages?

I want to have some category specific content in each category index page above listings.

Maybe you mean the description, {CATDESCRIPTION}: scripts.webmastersite.net/w...category-variables-11.html . Or possibly you mean a custom field: scripts.webmastersite.net/w...10/extending/adding-fields

The template is labeled "display links in category" on the manage templates page.
