Calendar date in search box

When using bookings calendar, when I use the popup calendar to populate the date search field search it show the worng way round... For today date it would show... 2012-04-30 ... is there a way to have this display as 30-04-12, that same goes for the date shown on the items in the search results.
2012-04-30 is the least-ambiguous format, that's why I have it that way. 10-11-12 for example could mean October 11th 2012 or November 10th 2012 or November 12th 2010 and there's no sure way to guess which.
For the display of dates away from the submit/edit page, however, you can set the order in the localization settings at Admin -> Settings -> Localization.
