Lately each time I've used the autoupdate feature on one particular site (http://www.customize-your-life.com/), it deletes the templates/Purple/images directory. Any idea why this is happening? I always check the "do not overwrite customized templates" box but it doesn't make a difference.
/templates/setname/images/ directories are automatically deleted as a courtesy cleanup, because they're legacy cruft from 4.0 and earlier series that doesn't do anything anymore (possibly they still function as a fallback if you delete the proper images directory, but that would be by the accident of the legacy code not having been removed yet, not intention). Images go in templates/images_default, or tempaltes/images_yourstylesheetname.
I always check the "do not overwrite customized templates" box but it doesn't make a difference.
Please don't check that box, it only gives you extra work for no benefit unless you plan to wait hours or days between running the upgrade and applying the template change instructions it gives. I'm going to change it to a tweak since there's so much confusion about it.
