I've created several member usergroups and I want to limit the amount of photos each can add to their album. I've set Total bytes allowed: 250000 for membergroup Simple. For some reason I can upload well beyond that without any message stating I've reached my limit. I want it so membergroup Simple can upload 5 attachments to their album and the max size per image can be 50k. Is there a way to do this?
I've not worked a great deal with WSN Gallery, but there is some differences between member albums and the gallery as a whole.
The settings in the control panel AFAIK are pertaining to limiting the member group and their Gallery image submissions.
Member albums, not really having anything to do with a members uploaded images directly, are more like a favorites list.
It appears the only way to limit member albums is to turn it off. In other words a member can add any and all images to their 'album' if the feature is on. The "Number of image submissions allowed:" and "Total bytes allowed:" should work as intended, which is unrelated to member albums.
Since members are allowed to upload/add images to their album from their hard drive, I think there should be a way to limit the amount of photos they can add to their albums.
Maybe I am not clear on the member album concept, or we're talking about two different things..
I do know that I can login, upload an image to the gallery and it's not in my member album unless I use the add to album link.
The settings dealing with member/user group limits are AFAIK not related to member albums at all. Hence, the only way to limit the submissions to member albums is to just turn off member albums.
It sounds like you're users are uploading to their albums then making those images available to the gallery.
Simply put, to limit the members like you're wanting to, turn albums off. They then will only be able to upload the number of images you specify and the total bytes you specify.
My understanding of how the member albums works, the best anaogy I can think of is to think of the member albums as a shopping cart. They add and remove any and all images from the gallery to their albums. If that is what you need then leave member albums on..
Granted, it probably would be a nice enhancement to have control over the member albums, as you're using them. I can only conclude they were designed for something different though or there probably would be limiting capabilites for member albums.
I managed a work around. I created some usergroup field and used some <IF> statements to get it to work the way I want it to.
With my site there are no public gallery photos, only those that the members upload to their personl album gallery. The site isn't live yet so it's not a problem YET. I am just looking into the future for potential problems.
Did u also notice that the counters have to be regenerated everytime an image is uploaded/validated in the members album in order to get the {THISMEMBERTOTALMEGABYTES} and {THISMEMBERTOTALBYTES} to display correctly

I see! (said the blind man) Glad you found a solution.
Frankly, the member albums were the first source of confusion for me when I first gave WSN Gallery a spin. One day, when I get my links and forum sites tweaked to a more final state I'll have to dive more into the gallery script.

totalbytesallowed is for all their images ever submitted, so 250kb would be absurdly small.
Per-image size is a distinct option on the file settings page.
Will check if there's a problem with the tracking of totalbytes shortly.

It properly adds the values for me -- that being exactly what I noted the fix of above.
