This is something that I have always meant to ask about bt never got round to...
In all versions of WSN links, if you create a listing and alias the listing to several categories, the listing becomes duplicated. There are more thaan one details page containing exactly the same info. This I don't really like because it is duplicate content.
For instance, the two following URLs are the same listing...
Would it not be better to have just one URL for the details page, linked to from each category the link is in, rather than the link being in effect duplicated?
If this is not something you would be interested in changing, could it be done as a plugin?
I had this but it didn't happen all the time. I thought my client must have been doing something wrong because it never did it when I tried! It then did it once when I added such a link. Paul tweaked something and the client says it hasn't happened since.
It is how it's designed to be. The issue babrees had was unrelated.
The pages aren't identical, they have a different navigation path. If I redirect to the original's details page, then people complain about the navigation taking the user out of the category they were in.
Of course various pages on any site will be considered close enough to be duplicate content. Why not let the search engines recognize that and only index one copy of the details page, instead of inconveniencing/confusing your users by taking them out of the categories they're in?
OK, i get your point about the navigation, but I don;t plan to use a breadcrumb navigation, and I have my own personal reasons to want just one details page (at one single URL) for each listing.
It's fine that that's how it's supposed to be, but would it be possible to create a plugin that makes it do what I want it to do (one details page at one URL), that I can just use on any directory I create.
Obviously I'd be willing to pay in advance.
(I also really want the work done on postcodes I mentioned to you a while ago, with the larger UK postcode database that contains both parts of every UK post code)
(I'd really like to speak to you ona messenger at some time paul because there is a lot of Geo work I need done but its hard to explain in an email. I'd like to speak to you so that I know you know exactly what I am talking about, it's quite complicated.)

Oh, it happens without fail for me. Thought that was how it was designed to be.

A plugin for it should be quick and easy.
I'll plan to be on the yahoo messenger account 'paulknierim' at 2am PDT (10am GMT) this coming morning (9/14), if that works for you.It looks like you're not going to read this in time, so let's set another time. When are you available?
