As of now, I'm not sure I see a way to use it effectively in WSN Gallery except for thread comment attachments.
Using it for the category slideshow is a problem because it'd require a toplist with every image in the category included, which would get very slow if you have a thousand images in a category. An alternative would be to have the slideshow only show the current page, but that doesn't seem right either.
I do like the lightbox look, so since the last post I've come up with a compromise: it'll use lightbox when there are less than 75 images in a category, and the old slideshow when there are more.
Ok, that is a good idea. But it also made me think of another possibility. Let me run it past you and see what your thoughts are -
What if the slideshow page showed a strip of small thumbnails (say 50 x 50px) across the bottom of the screen which you can click to pop open to the a larger image within the lightbox. Then you'd be loading a smaller number of images, right? And at either end of the stip would be arrows which would load the previous or next 20 thumbnails? Would that work?
The mechanism to load more thumbnails automatically (wouldn't be much of a slideshow if the "next image" link stopped working until you clicked a "next page of thumbnails" link) would make the project a lot more complicated. Might as well do the progressive loading directly on the category page with some kind of AJAX mechanism... but I don't have the time to develop that right now.

Noticed a post regarding lightbox in the WSNlinks forum and was wondering if it's also included Gallery. Looks like a really nice addition.

Gotcha. It was a thought.
Well, I guess if I come up with any brilliant ideas I'll be sure to share!
