Email topics uses the name instead of the variable now, anyhow. These are forum instant subscription emails?
Update: I got "Hello Paul" in a WSN Directory category instant subscription notification, which should be exactly the same as a WSN Forum forum subscription notification. Will wait and see what happens with me subscribed to this forum though.
Also, whilst I seem to get a notice when you reply to a thread I started, I don't seem to get a notice for updated threads that I have submitted to. It is selected that I do so in my options.
Test again. Maybe this has to do with the unique subscriptions setting which won't email you again if it has already emailed you about the thread once since your last visit. May not be working right.
Yes, it says there've been 3 new posts since my last visit and it's set to only email when there's 1 new post since my last visit.
My last visit is officially about an hour and a half ago. This must mean I've clicked something once every 15 minutes or so since then.
It'd be a rarity when there hasn't been more than one post since the previous session. I'm not sure if this is good or bad but it means few notification emails. Anyhow it's configurable in the email preferences: "If set to 'yes', subscribers (who aren't using the daily digest) will be notified of the first new comment in a subscribed thread, but not of subsequent comments until they login again."
As for forum topic instant subscription {THISMEMBER, I just got an email saying "Hello Paul, there has been an update to the forum WSN Links which you have subscribed to. It's titled "testing" and can be found at www.webmastersite.net/forum.../threads/notitle-8848.html . "

I see, it doesn't work on you because there are two members with your email address (babrees2 is your other account). It only does the replacement when there's exactly one member, since otherwise it doesn't know who you are. (The way it works is it searches the members table for an email that matches the "to" address of the email.)
I'll have it just use the first match's name. Better to be wrong than not try, I guess.

For new topics, instant, this forum (wnslinks).

hmm, didn't realise I had two accounts, although I do now seem to remember some sort of problem signing up to begin with.
Could you please delete babrees2 for me
Thanks
