AARRGGHH !!!

In the past upgrading has attempted to add updates to customised templates and when it couldn't it would give you the new bits to add. However, I have just upgraded to the latest version and instead adding new bits it simply completely overwrote my templates.

I have a back up of my customised templates of course, but will now need to find out what has changed on the default.

Will it be overwriting on all further upgrades? If so I will have to check the box to skip auto update.

[edit] In order to see the changes to the templates I upgraded another site from 5.0.22, this time checking the box to skip auto-updating customised templates. However, I had a message saying "The archive could not be downloaded from the WSN server. It's possible the WSN server is down at the moment." Now my overview says my version 5.0.22 is up to date.

That would happen if you recently went to Admin -> Misc -> Advanced Options and clicked "generate a new database schema". Besides the database schema, clicking that also updates the template schema so that all templates would be considered unmodified defaults... it's part of the process for creating a new release.

I'll remove the schema generation options from the advanced page, since virtually nobody has an actual use for them and my own release generator now calls them automatically (pre-4.1 I had to go to the admin panel and click it myself before release).

As for the server down message, does it still say that?

I don't know. My site tells me "Your WSN Links 5.0.22 is up to date." so doesn't give me an upgrade button. I guess I will have to do a manual upgrade.

[edit] I have since managed to upgrade another site with no probs.
