I have a site that is still running on 4.1 but I need to move it to a new server so I'd like to setup the new server with the 5.x version. What would be the best way to import the db from the older version into the new? I have tried importing the db via phpmyadmin after a successful install, but when I do that it kills the install.
well you could like i did...but maybe isnt the correct way but it worked.. on the new server install the 5.x version.
in my case i deleted the members,links,categories and attachment tables after that. then i used bigdump to import those tables from my earlier version and run the upgrade.php worked great.
