I am almost 100% sure that I am modifying the correct css elements, since there are no other css elements that are similarly named, but the changes have absolutely no effect.
1) .categoryname 2) If you mean the subcategories on front page mini-bit, edit the main index template to create a css class. 3) If you want it to differ in size from the other text around it, it doesn't by default, so edit the link bit.
