Paul, I see that there is a category option that says -

Default to no access?
Useful for a category where any future usergroups you may add shouldn't be defaulted to being able to view it.

When I change this to "Yes" it removes it from access by all present usergroups, including Admin. Am I misunderstanding the option? I'd like it so that all present usergroups can access the category, but that future usergroups default to no access unless I specifically give them access.

I know you must hate seeing my posts by now, but I believe I can actually see the light at the end of this project's tunnel!

Unless you'd set "yes" for the other groups -- which would've been a lot of pointless work for you to have done -- then it's behaving correctly. Normally all the permissions say "use default" -- when you set the default to be no access, then they'll use no access.

You can go through selecting 'yes' for all the groups if you want, but I don't see how that would be convenient.

Perfect! I had the admin set to "use default" once I changed the admin settings to yes instead it seemed to work. I will know for sure after setting up the new groups. Thanks!
