I do accents in english keyboard clicking the character " ´ " that´s beside Enter key and then a vocal as " a " so you will have " á " as for " Combarbalá " (village name). You can also make a " ñ " as for Ñandú via Alt - N .
I see on previous versions the degraded chat format presents the accents correctly, but not at the non-degraded. Rechecked at WSN Forum ver. 4.1.22.
Doesn't work that way on my OS, and google isn't helping except to tell me lots of other people don't know how to do it. Found a character map program that'll copy the accented character to the clipboard, and that works fine in the chat, same as previous testing.
Have you tried switching the character set in the spanish file for the one in the english file?

Just to mention that accents are not presented correctly at the chat. The shoutbox presents them ok.

I have re-chacked on a brand new install and the same difficulty.
I have changed the language charset to latin1 without effect.
Please take as how it looks at IE and Firefox :

I don't see it in Firefox either, using a plain install, multilingual template set, fullenglish language: http://www.webmastersite.net/screenshots/23713.jpg
Maybe there's a difference between typing accents in and copy/pasting them (from news.google.es headlines)? I wouldn't know how to type them.

Interesting, somehow I've managed to get a combination of behaviors: http://www.webmastersite.net/screenshots/20099.jpg
Maybe it relates to transmitting the characters in a URL request, since URLs tend not to internationalize well. I'll see if sending via post helps.

Haven't seen the question diamonds again since switching to post, so hopefully it'll work for you too.

Now looks perfect. Tested at IE and Firefox.
