Ok - I am a little confused:

In the manual + SEO section of ADMIN settings - it gives a warning of using sitemaps - [please see attachment]

But everywhere else I go -reading up on SEO etc. it recommends using a sitemap - or using the google tools - or yahoo tools etc. - to create one.

So there I sit and ponder raised eyebrow -

1] Is it "best" / or "not" to use the sitemap generator within WSN ..

2] And/Or ? should I be looking at an using an outside SiteMap Generator ?

- Interested to hear all parties thoughts on this subject ...and experiences ...

So far - have just let the spiders crawl on their own ...but I want to make sure I am not missing something by not generating a "google" or other style of sitemap...

Thanks in advance...

What exactly are these sitemap generators you see recommended? I've never heard of one. Certainly nothing in the google tools I've seen generates them.

Goggle has a list of 3rd party site map generators that support Google site maps at http://code.google.com/sm_thirdparty.html , but WSNlinks does same thing.

Since those are crawlers they'd presumably add server load.

Thanks Paul + Larry

Here is the link to the specific Google Site Map Generator that I have been looking at:

www.google.com/support/webm...swer.py?answer=34575&hl=en

So far - WSN Links has created a nice site map on its own - without using the SEO Site Map tool in Admin ...

- but I see all my pages are not listed by Google - so am looking to get more spidered ..

...and back to my original inquiry - wondering the differences between the SEO site map generator that you have already incorporated into WSN Links - and using a outside generator such as the google one .. (if that makes sense ?)

Paul thanks for all your "other" responses - to my multiple questions (have just returned from traveling - so was slow in getting this posted here)

The spider-based ones would include more unimportant pages in the list and might not be consistent about url rewriting.
