I'm new to WSNLinks, trying to understand how some things work and why. I did search the forums and documentation but not all my questions were answered, so I hope it is okay to post here.

I understand the concept of hard and soft deleting links. But are you only able to soft delete a category? It appears that way. I ran into some problems with that because I deleted a category and then re-created it with the same name. The system did not seem to like that. But I didn't know it was still there from before, just not visible.

I discovered I could see the invisible categories in the Search panel. Edit Categories only shows you visible categories, but Search allows you to see all. However it would be great if it told you which ones were visible and which were not. A typical problem is, I created a category and later deleted it, then came back later to do some work on the site and decided I wanted that category, so I create it again. Now I have two of them but only one is visible. Search shows me both but does not tell me which one is visible.

Also, if I then click to Edit the category, it would be helpful to be told it had already been deleted/made invisible. And that the Delete button in this case does not delete but makes it visible again. It only tells you that the delete was reversed after the operation is done.

How often are the counters automatically regenerated? If I have two categories and delete one, the main page still tells me there are two. I discovered I can fix that immediately on the Regenerate Counters page, but otherwise when is it done? (ideally it would be done immediately as any visitors will see it broken for a while)

You can only soft-delete categories (I'll add in a hard delete option -- actually it's a template ommission, you can copy the one in the edit link template over), but it should never cause any problem to create one with the same name. I can't reproduce any problem using the same name as categories active or deleted. Do you have a procedure I can reproduce?

They're not supposed to show there, I see the quick search in the admin panel shows it mistakenly. Fixed for next release.

How often are the counters automatically regenerated?

The intent is that you should only have to regenerate categories manually after you move a category to a new parent, other changes should be automatically accounted for. Please report any other cases where they aren't.
