I'm testing how the system moves categories and subcategories. I have to know the category number though in order to move them. I can't find those anywhere and have been looking all morning for it. I can see that the code for it is CATNUMBER but can't find where the actual numbers are displayed anywhere for the categories already entered.
They're in the url you see when you mouseover the 'edit' link, but you can put {CATID} in a template if you want a more prominent display. I just can't think of a good place to put it.
The only place I've needed it so far is if I'm changing the parent category for a given category. So if I go to the category list and click on edit the edit page doesn't have the category numbers anywhere. If the parent category field on the edit page was a drop down with the category/number it would be more user friendly.
If that is something that might help people and you think it's possible as a modification suggestion I could post this over on that forum item.
The parent list is a dropdown unless you have more than 500 or so categories, and even with more you can turn it back on with a tweak if you don't need permissions.

Sorry... that should have been 'listed' in the title.

I have 3000+ categories. What tweak will turn it on? Does turning it on affect anything else?
Thanks!
