For me to hijack someones link is simple if that link is tutorial like in my case.
All I would need to do is register and post a comment with that number.


The code should be put into the head of the HTML document. Like Google Analytics have:
<META name="verify-v1" content="some code=" />

That way only the owner have ability to claim the link.

That could work if and only if you display comments on the front page, since presumably that's the page in directories. Vaguely possible though.

Another site (sorry can't remember which one) gave you a txt file to upload to your site.

The changed method will go into effect only for people who update their language/template (depending on english/multilingual). I'm not going to make it automatically apply since most people won't appreciate having the feature broken until they edit their language.
