Instead of using the actual calendar I'd rather like to have a spot on the main page displaying the birthdays of the current day. I guess I'd have to use a toplist for that, but I'm stuck with all the variables, 'cause I'm not sure how to handle all the new "events" stuff yet.
You now have 365 birthdays a year. The only drawback is the rapid aging.
There's a 'birthdays' switch in WSN Forum which makes it work, but the switch isn't in WSN Links because I hadn't imagined a use for it. Go to add fields and add a switch named birthdays, then turn it on, and it should work.

You're actually telling that to a woman???
Okay, I created the switch, which caused this error:
Error: The file does not exist.
Warning: fwrite(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/linklou/public_html/filefunctions.php on line 362 Cannot write to the file ! You must chmod it to 666. Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/linklou/public_html/filefunctions.php on line 364
But it seemed to have work anyway, because the switch appeared and apparently it's not my birthday today Unfortunately it's no one else's birthday either, so I can't say if they would show up. I'll get back to you on Wednesday when it actually IS my birthday
BTW, how come that all birthdays appear in the calendar, but for mine you have to click the date to see it? Tried regenerating everything, but that didn't help.

I haven't tried this with the new links/calendar, but this is how it is done with wsnforum...
<!-- BEGIN BIRTHDAYS --><a href="memberlist.php?action=profile&id={MEMBERID}" class="{MEMBERGROUPNAMESTYLE}">{MEMBERNAME}</a><IF {MEMBERAGE}> ({MEMBERAGE})</IF>, <!-- END BIRTHDAYS -->

thanks, it "kinda" works, because it displays my own username and id and my current age, and I'm pretty sure that today's not my birthday

I can't find any birthdays that don't appear in the month view.
Happy birthday, Jenny.
