I've been trying to delete top level categories, and as I do this, I notice that the totals on my main admin page don't change at all. The number of categories and subcategories is the same as when I started.
I regenerated everything, used the delete orphaned aliases feature, and basically did everything I can think of to get the totals to sync up.

Regenerate totals ought to do it, but doesn't. A fix to classes/settings.php is needed.
