I'm trying to get a user's Personal Links to display on the main page. I've noticed however that the Personal Links seem kind of buggy (displaying a main category instead of a user's Personal Link List) and this worries me a bit, but after making a test user it seems ok. I can't figure out how to get them to display on the main page though and if anyone has any idea on how to do this, it would be VERY much appreciated.
Also, there seems to be code for other programs in the Personal Links List. Though I am sure this helps in integrating different programs, it also adds to the confusion of trying to mod it (esp to a super-php-novice like myself ).
I'm not really sure what I did to "get there" but I could see about changing the password on one of the usernames and/or exporting my database and sending it over to you. There are two types of "bugginess" that I have run into:
1) I was using one of my admin users and added a few links. I then deleted some links and some would not delete.
2) On one of my users (a non-admin), when I go to personal links, it shows Top Cat > Category , and the "Category" is not "user's personal link list", but one of the actual categories on the page. When going to add a link, it goes to add to that category and does not give the option in the dropdown to add to that user's personal link list.
Jump to this user's Personal Link List (Options on left menu > Personal Link List) and you will see that they have a Subcategory that I setup called "News". I cannot get this Subcategory to delete.
Also, are you supposed to be able to make your own "personal categories" to put "personal links" in? When adding links to testuser's "personal category", the links had to be approved/rejected.
UN: testaccount PASS: testing1234 Issue: This user's personal links aren't "personal links" but point to the category "ModemHelp.Net's Tech Portal > Misc Tech Sites > Tech Humor and Recreation".
I'm not sure if this is one of the issue's that you have cleared up for 3.3.12 or not. If so, great!! The link issue I think only happens to an administrator (who can see hidden links). I think that I may have created my initial link in the admin account as a hidden link, and then made some subsequent "non-hidden links", and had trouble then deleting links.
I went to check my admin accounts to try and duplicate the link issue again, but it didn't quite work as it appears both my admin accounts are having the 'category issue'. When I upgrade to 3.3.12, will the issues be solved, or will I have to make any changes to my database first to resolve it?
You can hide links when submitting to the personal link list (at least as an admin?).
I actually have three users who have the "wrong albumn id", my two admin accounts, and the one that you just logged in with. Would having the wsnlinks tables from the mysql database help at all?
It isn't that there is a problem persay, it is just that I think that is what caused the weired "can't delete links" issue.
Also, 3.3.12 did not come with upgrade instructions from 3.3.11 to 3.3.12. Is it the same as 3.3.9 to 3.3.11? Are the only changes that are made, made to albums.php? If so, I am assuming that I can just overwrite that file?
It says the upgrade process is for anyone coming from versions numbered 3.3.9 - 3.3.11. 3.3.12's readme file would of course not have instructions for upgrading to 3.3.11 or any other version, since you can't the files of version x to upgrade to any version that is not x.

My bad, misread it.

You want to display a particular member's list, or say when the member goes to your site and logs in (or already logged), to show his/her link list?
Try a toplist, like
<CONFIG>links,time,100,descending,ownerid={THISMEMBERID},,,1,1,0,0</CONFIG>

The toplist condition (use the toplist generator in the admin panel) would be catid={THISMEMBERALBUMID}
(displaying a main category instead of a user's Personal Link List)
One other person has said this but I'm still unable to reproduce it. Procedure?

Paul, here is an exampe album (user #2) which is not showing a personal links list, but instead an actual category:
http://portal.modemhelp.net/albums.php?id=2
I'm willing to post the site name now that I am getting closer to release.

Ok, this isn't duplicating the link problem, but close:
Website: http://portal.modemhelp.net
Username: testuser
Password: testing12345
Jump to this user's Personal Link List (Options on left menu > Personal Link List) and you will see that they have a Subcategory that I setup called "News". I cannot get this Subcategory to delete.

Fixed the addition to subcategories and subcategories deletion bugs for 3.3.12. Still can't reproduce any problem with links to member albums.

Paul,
I have the following test account setup:
UN: testaccount
PASS: testing1234

Thanks Paul!

I thought we were discussing the personal links list (as the thread title hints). Where do hidden links come in?
I see your test account has managed to get the wrong albumid value, but I can't reproduce that by adding link lists to my sites.

Added a check that recreates the album if the id isn't an actual album.
You can hide links when submitting to the personal link list
I suppose... but why would anyone, and what's the problem if they do?
