Im having the same type problem Sub cats not showing on main page even after regenerating cats as the regeneration process is going on I get this warning " Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /mysite/local/home/mysite/mysite/Landscape_Directory/classes/database.php on line 108"
I have re ran the upgrade and regenerated the categories still having the same problem 48 hours later and still no real answer to the problem maybee I am just a bit slow but "upgrade issue" does not really help me fix the problem.
whatever the issue is, what I really need is an answer on how to fix it.
Hello mowit, Just to comment, have you dowloaded againg all the files ? I have made a new test install on my local pc from the files downloaded today and I do not have this problem.
Your issue, mowit, is counter regeneration -- unrelated to this topic, but perhaps a matter of not upgrading correctly since there's no problem with regeneration in normal installs. You'll need to get the debug output as explained in the pinned thread, a mysql warning is useless without that.

You'll need to regenerate categories, forgot to put that in the upgrade instructions.

Hello,
I have new install version 3.30 and alowed Show subcategories on main page to ON in switches, but subcategories on main not show. The same problem is in version 3.27. Show subcategories works correct i version 3.26.

Problem fixed, it was "Max subforums to show on main page:" setting in categoty settings"
I also downloaded all files and ran the upgrade again. I swear I checked that setting before.
