Ive waded through several threads about this problem and its happening to my site now. It says they are logged in after registering but they are never added to the memberlist nor are they added to my sites mysql database. I suppose thats why they have login failures. I also have a couple of admin accounts and now one of them gets the login failure. Ive tried with two different browsers, Mozilla Firefox (Mozilla 5.0/Firefox 0.8) and IE 6.0 SP2 and this is where it gets interesting. My main admin login will not work in either browser no matter how many times I try. My backup login works first try in IE, but takes 2 tries of typing login and password for it to work with Mozilla. I know this is related to why new members go thru the registration process but never get added to the WSN_Links table. I have the proper form action and submit in the html. Dont know what else to check nor did I find any single answer here in any threads. Any Ideas??
Wow Im amazed.. it seems to have worked itself out. Seems to be the norm for this problem. I suspect it has to do with browser versions and settings. Strange though, I still have to enter login and password twice with my backup admin user when I use Mozilla... weird huh?
I created a new category using Mozilla Firefox v 1.0.4, it did not ask me to register or log in, I was told it would be added once approved by administrator
I then attempted to log into admin using Mozilla Firefox v 1.0.4, I could not.
When I used Microsoft IE Explorer version 6.0.2800 I could log in and I could see the item awaiting validation
Must be a reason for this. Do you use Mozilla Firefox?
I remember seeing a problem a bit like this with with Netscape 6, to do with cookies in a shopping cart package.
Could this problem be to do with how WSN Links stores/reads cookies on Firefox?
I must admit I did not clear my cookies before installing v 3.22, could previous cookies set by older versions of WSN Links have caused this problem within Firefox, although I do think it's a problem unique to Firefox as like I say I have no problem with IE.
I use Opera 8.01 primarily and Firefox 1.0.4 on occasion (especially when I need to be logged in as two people at once). I would expect that it's simply the cookie path which is the issue. For some reason I've found lately that I've had to update my cookie paths to / instead of blank on several installs, even though I haven't changed anything in a long time that I'd think would be related.
I'm not sure why IE would act differently, but it might just be a matter of old stored cookies or the like. I've had differnet behavior between Opera and FF on occasion that seemed to just be a matter of preexisting cookies have certain paths in one and not the other.
I have cookies set as /, but things may be a bit confused as I have so many versions of WSN Links installed in different directories (just while I develop the website). I will clean things up and see if I can sort this from my end, not a cookies expert, but a few trials may pinpoint the problem.
Many thanks

ps Very happy with your response re image uploads on other thread.
If and when I can make some cash with my website I will push some your way!
If you have another WSN that's in a directory under / (anything that's not on a different subdomain), set the cookie names to be different (or just integrate them). This'd probably be it, the reason IE works for you would be that you haven't logged into the other location in IE.

I think you mean "Do you ever end up forced to leave the computer?" To which the answer is sadly yes, have to get groceries or the like from time to time.

Hi Paul,
I have just done a new install on WSN Links 3.22
I created a new category using Mozilla Firefox v 1.0.4, it did not ask me to register or log in, I was told it would be added once approved by administrator
I then attempted to log into admin using Mozilla Firefox v 1.0.4, I could not.
When I used Microsoft IE Explorer version 6.0.2800 I could log in and I could see the item awaiting validation

Regards and many thanks for the 3.22 update.
