I couldn't find a thread for this, so maybe the moderator can make it sticky for others to post to.

So far, I've been extremely happy with WSN Links and how it functions. I've created 2 sites so far and plan to develop many more.

http://www.occlicks.com - Growing to be the largest directory for Orange County Claifornia. I'm in the middle of redesigning this site, as it was my first attempt with WSN Links a few months ago. Turned out great for SEO, but could use a more updated look.

http://www.4personaltrainers.com - Personal Trainer and Fitness directory. My second WSN Links directory, which I took more time with.

Both are very targeted and doing very well for being only a few months old. Using the mod rewrite really helps with search engines and I have watched the traffic continue to grow each day.

So, now it's your turn! Show us your WSN Links directory!

I have my WSN Links set so that the categories names are in their url. I notice you do not.

I have read in many places that Search Engines respond to words in url and page title.

Yes, I understand the reasoning behind this, and I will probably use this method for future directories, but as it stands now, it would ruin my current SE rankings if I were to change the names of the directories now. It will be a nice comparison to see of named categories rank better in search engines. What is your ranking like?

My home page is number 1 in Yahoo for the search term "two way radio".

I recently lost ranking in Google's reshuffle. Probably take a while to build back up.

I've developed one site and plan on developing another using WSN Links.

Here are mine, in various stages of completion:

  • Customize Your Life, a directory of sites offering products that can be customized to your tastes
  • Dejerine-Sottas, resources and news for people with Dejerine-Sottas, a rare neuromuscular disease. This one is integrated with phpBB.
  • cripNYC, a local directory of resources for people with disabilities living in New York City. I've integrated this with phpBB also, and want to integrate it with a calendar program as well... once I have the time and the nerve to mess with it. smiling face

WSN Links is an incredible value; I'm considering purchasing another license and setting up 3 more sites. Not entirely sure about what just yet, but it's great to be able to just focus on compiling good content without worrying about the script.

Looks nice but all that spyware you are trying to put on me stopped me from looking around.

Is that site a combination of WSNlinks and something else that does the topics and comments, or is all of it done with WSNlinks?

Beautiful design. One suggestion: I would put a link in the forum header to take you back to the site home page.

    Rik,

Where are you seeing spyware? Did it try to autodownload?

The only advertising I use on the site are Fastclick banners and popups, so it would have to be from that. Maybe one of the advertisers was running a campaign for spyware that you hit upon?

I am not getting it tonight, just the Pop-Ups, but my Pop-Up blocker stops that. Last night SpywareBlaster said it was blocking something, I think the name was something like FastClick.

Just tried again. I have an alert from Spybot S&D saying

"Spybot S&D has blocked the download of "FastClick"!

Ahh.. Fastclick is just a banner network - actually the biggest in the world, used on many major websites. It's definitely not spyware. I think Spybot S&D is just flaging it because it is an advertising company and uses cookies to track.

I think some folks consider tracking cookies spyware, especially when placed without knowledge or warning.

Anway, with Pop-Up blockers beeping, and spyware blockers throwing up alerts, some web sites miss traffic as folks move on to avoid perceived problems.

In fact, I have stopped my grandchildren from using my computer because the game sites they visit put so much junk on my computer.
